Crash landing woodpecker

There was a loud bang recently and it turned out a woodpecker crash landed at the bedroom window. It took a while for the grand looking bird to catch its breath. It lay blinking on the ground before take off. First stop the wall. After realizing that the brick didn´t really offer any food and the nausea wore off the wood pecker took off for the woods. Good thing it survived!

Aaaww poor thing. I'm glad it was okay.

  2. +Eva Hausmann Yeah! I was glad to. Thought it had died first.

Woodpeckers are funny. One of them lived in my block of houses for a couple of years and he liked pecking on the streetlamps for the resonance. We didn't appreciate it so much at 4 am though. Apparently they peck both for food and for signalling to other males "this is my area, stay out"! :)

  4. I had no idea about the signaling :) +Eva Hausmann we have different kinds of woodpeckers here. Not sure about the English names though.

  5. Eva Hausmann says:

Yeah, me neither. The one I'm familiar with is called "spillkråka", a black kind.
