Diamanda Galás

If I were to spend time explaining to imbeciles
why my music isn’t blasphemous, I wouldn’t
have time to make more blasphemous music.
Last nights show with Diamanda Galás at Södra Teatern was fantastic. It amazes me to no end that her voice is still that powerful after a, by now pretty long career. So given that she must be _29_ now, that´s quite something. On another note, I´ve learned that a womans best age are the ten years between 29 and 30.
The concert had a rather big range. Ranging from Ter Vogormia (Lord have mercy) – From the Armenian liturgy to 25 minutes to go by Shel Silverstein (the one Jonny Cash would sing) which came out in a jazz-blues hybrid with lots of staccato.
Madame Galás was given standing ovations by a pretty diverse crowd and she seemed genuinely touched by that.
She´s famous for being angry, political and having a voice that ranges over 3 octaves but I also felt like she´s a person with a great sense of humor.
Seeing a performance like that is is powerful. You get all wound up and somehow very tired too. There´s so much energy flooding.
I will see her the next chance I´ll get. Never got around to it before even though I´ve played her albums for over 20 years (not constantly) and enjoyed her screams in Dracula and Natural Born Killers.
Wiskey a Go Go

I´m listening to Mono “Hymn to the immortal wind” Yes, you can say that Mono are a bit pretentious. There are days when pretentious is good. Better. Great.
The guy above was in need of a break after a hectic tour of Glenfarclas distillery.
Uptight tonite?

So you worked hard all week and now you really need to party? You´re a cute gal, dressed right and need to bob your head? You´re a guy with the teddy shoes going, the tight crisp black jeans but nowhere to go. Fear no more. All you need to do is get this album, together with a case of beer and a bottle of Jack Daniels and you´re all set. My favorite tune is Liar Liar by The Castaways but there are plenty of good songs to keep your spirits up!

And remember, these boots are made for walkin! :-)
woot for roxio toast

Awhile ago someone sent me a live recording of a David Sylvian concert. I was grateful but got a bit disappointed because it turned out the songs were in FLAC-format. Those can´t be played in iTunes. I was gonna download Songbird but didn´t feel like having another app and another music library. Someone told me that Roxios cd burn program Toast version 8 and up could convert FLAC to Apples LossLess or other prefered fileversion. I only have Toast 7 and am happy with that since I don´t need all the new stuff with Toast 9 yet (except for the Blueray burning, but still). Well it turns out that even Toast 7 can convert my FLAC-files so here I am listeing to David Sylvian and work goes so smoothly. :-)
Help me find a missing tune about Doris Day
Back around the early 90s, (possible late 80s) I had a mixtape of cool songs. The tape is long gone but one song´s still stuck in my head but I have no idea what the band/artist was called.
The song was a sort of love song for Doris Day. It was a melancholic pop tune with a sense f humour. The lyrics went something like this:
I´d like to say Hey Doris Day.
Doris, you probably don´t remember me
but I was there at the movies. I was there.
I´ve googled but ran out of ideas on how to deepen my search. Ring a bell for you? Please comment or email me! :-)
Album wallpaper generator

Just to prove once again that I have extravagantly cool taste in music! :-
I used a cool new feature made by Alekcander, the Last.FM personal wallpaper generator!.
Abstract(ions) in the air

Boards of Canada is still the perfect soundtrack for when you´re feeling subtle, lightheaded or at worse, arty farty. My dreams have been like RSS-feeds or a mix between MTV in the 90s and CNN lately, endless no sense news. Nonsense news. Too much time in front of computers?
Stress and black will never go out of fashion.
Pucko embroidered knitted cap
A pucko in Swedish is some one who doesn´t have that many sioux indians in the canoe, if you know what I mean. It is also a chocolate milk drink that´s been around for ages (first introduced in 1954). The colors of the graphics matches my friends show room Adesso.
Tonite was Pucko nite at Adesso. It was great fun. I played music using this new found really cool app Djay that I´m totally in love with. I don´t know all my ways around it yet but it seems really stable and well written and looks great. Together with my music of choice this nifty app granted me a large hang around of groupies.
:-)
I really need to get my hands on some of the pictures of me in a Pucko outfit. chocolate milk brown t-shirt and matching knitted cap! I looked like a dork.
